Friday’s War on I-4 Between UCF and USF Grabs Monster TV Rating

Highest-Rated UCF Telecast Since 2013 South Carolina Game

The 2017 War on I-4 game between UCF and USF picked up a 3.2 national rating on ABC, making it the highest-rated UCF football game on TV since the South Carolina game in 2013, according to ESPN P.R.

The rating for the game was up 45% from last year in the 3:30 p.m. Black Friday timeslot over last year’s game in the same window, which was Nebraska vs. Iowa. The  War on I-4 game drew a total of 4.6 million viewers.

It’s the third-highest Black Friday 3:30 p.m. game for ABC since 2002.

By local markets, Orlando was the top-rated with a monstrous 11.1 rating. The Tampa market posted a 10.1 rating.

Locally, the 2013 South Carolina game picked up an 11.5 rating with 243,000 local viewers in the market. Friday’s game picked up approximately 233,000 local viewers in the Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne TV market.

The Fiesta Bowl win against Baylor is the highest rated UCF game in the Orlando-Daytona Beach- Melbourne market with a 17.4 rating.

The game beat the head two head competition in the similar timeslot as Arkansas-Missouri on CBS drew 2.5 million viewers. Iowa-Nebraska which aired on cable channel FS1 drew 1.4 million viewers. It shows that Its still better to be on big network channel (ABC ) then cable channel.

Nationally, USF-UCF game is the most most watched UCF Football regular season telecast of all-time since they started keeping track. Its the 3rd most watched UCF telecast nationally if you include Bowl games.

The Knights will be on ABC once again this Saturday when they Host Memphis in the American Conference Championship Game at noon with Steve Levy, Brian Griesie and Todd McShay on the call.
