Four Soccer Players Take Conference Season Honors

UCF's Women's Soccer has had another very good regular season (11-5-1, 6-3 American, 3rd place), and once again, they have the hardware to show for it. Four players came away with season honors from The American:
Carol Rodrigues - Co-Offensive Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team

Rodrigues, a junior forward from Juazeiro, Brazil, leads the team in goals with 11 (second in the AAC) and is tied for second with five assists (fifth in the AAC). Five of those goals were game-winners, and one of them made the SportsCenter Top Ten:
Rodrigues also won Offensive Player of the Week three times this year.
Ashley Spivey - All-Conference First Team
A senior midfielder from Maryland and All-Conference Preseason selection, Spivey was second on the team with 10 goals (3rd in the AAC), including five game-winners of her own.
Kayla Adamek - All-Conference First Team
The sophomore midfielder from Ottawa was tops on the team and third in the AAC in assists with seven, while also finishing third in goals on UCF with six.
Vera Varis - All-Rookie Team
A freshman from Finland and member of her home nation's national team, Varis has been solid in goal, tallying 55 saves and a 1.49 GAA in almost 1400 minutes of play on the year, and won Rookie of the Week three times.
The Knights have won their last five fixtures heading into the AAC Tournament in Dallas, where they face Temple in the Quarterfinals on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. Eastern. The game will be streamed on the American Digital Network. You can watch it here.
Volleyball's Fleener Wins Conference Player of the Week
A monstrous weekend on the road helped propel senior Abbie Fleener to the first AAC Player of the Week Award of her career at UCF.

Against Houston on Friday, the Grand Rapids, Michigan native racked up 16 kills and a .448 hitting percentage. She followed that up on Sunday with another 8 kills and a .400 percentage at Tulane. The Knights won both matches in 3-0 sweeps.
The Knights (13-11) have won four matches in a row, sweeping their last three, and are in a three-way tie for third place in The American with Cincinnati and UConn at 7-5 in conference with eight matches to go. Next up is USF in Tampa at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, follwed by East Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m. at home in The Venue.
