Orlando City SC traded up to select UCF Midfielder/Forward Hadji Barry with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
Barry was born in Guinea, moved to the United States at the age of thirteen and attended Greece Olympia High School in Rochester, New York. He led UCF with 11 goals, and was tied for second with three assists last season as a senior. The 11 goals came on 27 shots on goal.
Here is a pretty amazing highlight reel from his 2015 campaign:
In his junior year, Barry scored one goal on 11 shots after transferring over from Monroe Community College in Rochester.
It was a lock that Barry would be selected, since he signed a contract with MLS on Wednesday. The only drama was where he would go, and now he gets to stay in the city where he attended college for his final two years.
Here he is at the MLS Combine:
UCF players have now been selected in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft two straight years. Romario Williams went third overall to the Montreal Impact last year.
