Josh Heupel Named UCF's New Head Coach, Randy Shannon Named Defensive Coordinator

Knights Welcome Another Offensive Mind to Lead Football Program

UCF has named former Missouri offensive coordinator Josh Heupel as its new head coach, replacing Scott Frost.

The former Oklahoma quarterback was introduced to the team this morning.

As a bonus, Heupel broke the news to the team that he would be bringing on former University of Miami head coach and Florida defensive coordinator Randy Shannon as his defensive coordinator.

Heupel comes over for Missouri where he resurrected the Tigers' moribund offense:

Heupel takes over the #1 scoring offense in the nation.

As of now, there is no word on whether current interim head coach Troy Walters will be retained, nor do we know if long-time assistant Sean Beckton will stay with UCF. Both assistants stayed behind to run UCF's program after Scott Frost left for Nebraska, taking most of his assistants, including defensive coordinator Eric Chinander, with him.

A press conference at UCF is set for just after 2 p.m. ET.
