The UCF Knights’ dominating win over the Cincinnati Bearcats on ABC Saturday Night Football was the highest-rated primetime game of the week, delivering a 2.3 overnight number. The average number of viewers was 3.1 million viewers.
The rating for the Knights’ 23rd consecutive win topped the broadcast competition by 15%, leading to ABC/ESPN earning the highest-rated primetime game in the sport for the 10th time in 12 weeks this season, according to ESPN public relations.
Orlando and Cincinnati were the two highest-rated markets for ABC Saturday Night Football, delivering an 11.1 and 10.6 respectively.
In Orlando, the local rating is the market’s best for a ESPN/ABC game this season. The 11.1 rating also ties for the 2nd-highest rated UCF regular season game ever in Orlando with South Florida Black Friday game last season. UCF’s home game vs. South Carolina in 2013 still is the highest-rated UCF game in the Orlando market with an 11.5 rating.
Some more good news for American Conference: In Cincinnati, the local rating notably surpassed the market’s rating for the Ohio State-Maryland game earlier in the day.
College GameDay Up Year-Over-Year; Orlando Rates at a Near Record High
College GameDay Built by The Home Depot (9 a.m.–noon) delivered a 1.4 overnight for its first ever show from UCF, up 8% from the week 12 show last year (Michigan at Wisconsin). It is among the most-watched College GameDay episodes of the season with 1.817 million viewers which was 3rd most College Gameday episode of the season to date.
In Orlando, College GameDay earned a 3.9 overnight, tying as the market’s best rating for the premier pre-game show since 2010. Its the highest rated College Gameday in Orlando market since the November 2, 2013 edition from Tallahassee for No 7 Miami at No 3 Florida State.
