UCF announced Wednesday that head men's basketball coach Johnny Dawkins has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at UCF through the 2023-2024 season:

Dawkins led UCF to a 24-12 campaign in his first year in 2016-17, culminating in the Knights' first-ever trip to Madison Square Garden en route to a semifinalist finish in the NIT.
But last year was probably his best coaching job yet, as he helped an injury-decimated UCF squad, missing Tacko Fall, B.J. Taylor, and Aubrey Dawkins among others, to 19 wins.
All three players are expected back for 2018-2019, which no doubt raises expectations for UCF for the coming season. Aubrey Dawkins, Johnny's son, is expected to make his highly-anticipated debut after transferring from Michigan.
Dawkins is 43-25 at UCF, and 199-140 overall as a head coach.
