Georgia Tech Does UCF a Solid, Reschedules Orlando Game for 2022

UCF, GT to still play in Atlanta in 2020

UCF and Georgia Tech announced they will make up the 2017 game in Orlando that was canceled due to Hurricane Irma on September 24, 2022.

UCF will still visit Georgia Tech in 2020, as previously planned.

Credit to UCF A.D. Danny White and Tech A.D. Todd Stansbury, who was previously UCF's A.D. from 2012-2015.

That meeting will be the fourth all-time between the schools. Tech has won all three previously in 1996, 1999 and 2000, all in Atlanta. The 2022 game will be the first meeting between the two schools in Orlando.

Interestingly enough, all three Yellow Jackets wins belong to George O'Leary - over Gene McDowell in 1996, and his predecessor at UCF, Mike Kruczek, the final two times.

The 2000 game was the closest - a 21-17 victory for Tech over UCF in the season opener. George Godsey, who would later coach for UCF under O'Leary, threw three touchdowns in that game.

Of course, the last time UCF played in Atlanta, this happened.

The series was initially announced back in April of 2015.
