This is our Knightcap, where we catch you up on UCF sports action from the evening that was.

And it was a good opening night for UCF sports, which were all on the road:


Men's Soccer stuns Penn State in OT

Ricardo Oliveros's golden goal in the 102nd minute gave UCF a 2-1 road victory at Big Ten opponent Penn State:

The Knights racked up an incredible 24 shots to Penn State's 8, and had a 17-6 edge in corner kicks.

MVP: Louis Perez. The Frenchman also scored just before the half to tie the match at 1-1, and recorded an assist on the game-winner.

NEXT: The Knights have their home opener against UC-Irvine on Monday, August 27th at 7 p.m.


Volleyball starts 1-0 in Coral Gables

UCF Volleyball's season opener at the Sunshine State Classic in Coral Gables went as planned as they knocked off FGCU in four.

MVP: McKenna Melville. The freshman racked up 19 kills in her first match as a Knight. Sophomore Anne-Marie Watson added another 16. The Olson Sisters combined for 47 assists (29 for Erin) and UCF out-hit FGCU .204 to .121.

NEXT: UCF (1-0) has a pair Saturday. They face FAU at 1:30 followed by hosts Miami at 7:30.


Women's Soccer clipped by Texas in OT

#23 UCF Women's Soccer came up short in their season debut in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as a 93rd-minute overtime goal by Cyera Hintzen gave the #21 Longhorns a 2-1 win:

UCF fell down 1-0 on Hintzen's first goal of the day in the 23rd minute, but Zandy Soree tied it up in the 29th minute.

Dina Orschmann did see action for UCF fresh off returning from the U20 World Cup, and picked up an assist on Soree's tally. Her Team Germany mate Stefanie Sanders did not make the box score.

NEXT: UCF (0-1) faces #4 North Carolina in Chapel Hill Sunday at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed on Watch ESPN.
