Three in the Key
1. Knight of the Night
Aubrey Dawkins lead UCF in scoring once again with 18 points in 29 minutes played. On another night where B.J. Taylor didn’t have his best offensive game, Dawkins was able to step up as the spark for this offense. He’s now scored 15+ in 8 of 15 games this season.
2. 6th Man of the Game
Chad Brown may not be a starter but he plays a huge part in the success of this UCF team. He saw 24 minutes of action off the bench, racking up 9 points and 8 rebounds. With Collin Smith fouling out early and Tacko struggling from the free throw line, Chad helped seal up this victory for UCF in the late minutes.
3. By the Numbers
Free throws were yet again a big issue for Johnny Dawkins’ team. The Knights shot just 53.7% from the charity stripe, making this game a lot closer than it should have been. The Knights’ largest lead of the night was 21 points but the Pirates got within 6, making it a close finish down the stretch. 35 points from ECU’s freshman forward Jayden Gardner didn’t help either.
Who’s Got Next?
The Knights head to Wichita, Kansas on Wednesday, January 16th to take on the Shockers. The game will tip off at 10:00 p.m. (EST) inside Charles Koch Arena and will be broadcasted on CBSSN.
