UCF Ranked 17th in Preseason Coaches’ Poll

The Knights are the lone non-A5 team in the Top 25.

The first college football poll of the 2019 season has dropped, and the UCF Knights will start the campaign tied with Wisconsin at #17 in the USA Today/Amway Coaches’ Poll.

It’s the highest-ever preseason ranking for UCF in the Coaches’ Poll. The Knights were 23rd coming into last season.

Some notes:

  • UCF plays #23 Stanford in Orlando on September 14th.
  • UCF is the only non-A5 school in the Top 25. Boise State would be 27th.
  • Among The American, Cincinnati, Memphis and Houston all received votes but were not ranked.
  • UCF didn’t jump above #17 last year until Week 4, when they moved from #18 to #14.
  • The Knights peaked at #7 last year and finished in 12th.
  • It took until Week 8 for UCF to reach #17 in the Coaches’ Poll in 2017, and Week 14 in 2013.
