The #22 UCF Knights Softball team knocked off the #16 Michigan Wolverines in Los Angeles Friday night, 3-2, in the first of a double-header.
UCF 3, Michigan 2 (8)
The Knights took a 1-0 lead on a home run by California native Jazmine Esparza in the third, but Michgan tied it in the 5th. The game went to extra innings, where Michigan took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 7th in the international tiebreaker.
In the bottom of the 7th, Denali Schappacher singled home Kyra Klarkowski with one out to tie it at 2-2. She then stole second with two out and advanced to third when the throw went into center field. After a walk put runners on the corners, with Shannon Doherty up, Michigan pitcher Alex Storako uncorked a wild pitch, and Schappacher scampered home for the walk-off victory:

In the night cap, the Knights lost to #1 UCLA, 4-2. UCF took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but a three-run homer by Delanie Wisz in the bottom of the inning gave the Bruins the cushion they needed.
The Knights are now 17-3.
