The UCF Knights athletics program has found its new leader. And Knights fans are ecstatic.
Terry Mohajir will be replacing Danny White as UCF’s athletic director, the university confirmed Tuesday. White left his position as UCF’s AD for the same title at Tennessee and took Josh Heupel with him.
At UCF, finding the next head football coach is Mohajir’s first task, and he has already started the process, according to an email sent to UCF donors.
Mohajir hails from Arkansas State where he served as athletic director since 2012. He is known for his track record of hiring head football coaches bred for success — Brian Harsin (Auburn), Blake Anderson (Utah State) and Butch Jones (Tennessee).
UCF fans, desperate to find out who the new Knights football coach will be, seemed to approve the Mohajir hire due to his fun personality, presence on social media and position on the College Football Playoff selection committee.
Here’s what Knights fans had to say about the university’s new athletic director, Terry Mohajir:
First and foremost, Terry Mohajir = good at TikTok

UCF volleyball coach Todd Dagenais approves of the hire
A big #ChargeOn and welcome to @TerryMohajirAD . We are excited for you to join us and add your energy and vision to our efforts of changing the landscape of collegiate athletics. @UCF_Volleyball @ucf_sports #UCFamily

Arkansas State fans will miss their AD
Thinking about what has happened; I'm going miss @TerryMohajirAD. In a long career there has been no athletic official or coach as straight forward, honest and approachable as TMo has been. Orlando is in for a treat.

USA TODAY’s Dan Wolken shares the same sentiment that UCF fans do: Social media is important #ForTheBrand
UCF hiring maybe the only AD in the country who is as feisty on social media as their previous one https://t.co/chJHvCxc0B

Mohajir was selected in 2019 to serve on the College Football Playoff selection committee

The Athletic’s Chris Vannini says Mohajir is a ‘big-time hire’ for UCF
Terry Mohajir is a big-time hire for #UCF. Good track record of hiring football coaches, and Arkansas State recently opened a new football building that rivals most of the Power 5. https://t.co/7Haj0EGD0R

An Arkansas reporter says Mohajir is a fun addition on the sidelines

Push-ups after every TD? That’s one way to rock the Bounce House
Already sold on Terry Mohajir. This guy is awesome. pic.twitter.com/gcmMtt2gEK

Moving on up...
Terry Mohajir makes Danny White look like an introvert, I don’t even know how that’s possible

Another Danny White comparison
Love this hire! Seems like he has great energy, good track record hiring coaches. Has fundraised and built facilities at Ark St. Former student athlete. Has gone to bat for his school against the P5. Very DW-esque. https://t.co/4k2tgSm3Hw

In case you forgot already, Mohajir + TikTok = LFG
This is reportedly UCF’s new Athletic Director
