LSU finished 9-3 and third in the SEC West, with losses to Florida, Alabama and Texas A&M.
This will be the first match-up between these two schools.
UCF beat SEC foe Auburn last year in the Peach Bowl to complete their undefeated campaign.
It’s also the Knights’ second trip to the desert for New Year’s Day. UCF wrapped up the 2013 campaign on New Year’s Day with a 52-42 victory over Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl:
Here’s the phone call from the game’s Executive Director, Mike Nealy, to UCF A.D. Danny White:
Well, this is ... awkward at points. #UCF https://t.co/9suyjar0Fu
