While speaking with UCF Knights play-by-play voice Marc Daniels during his daily radio show, “The Beat of Sports”, on FM 96.9 The Game in Orlando on Thursday morning, American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco seems to have let the cat out of the bag on some UCF Football scheduling news - specifically, a home-and-home with the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The whole interview is worth the listen. But for the key bite, listen starting at the 12-minute mark (Click here if you can’t see the embed):

A spokesperson from UCF would not comment to us on the story.

A spokesperson from Arizona State told Black & Gold Banneret the following:

“We do not have games scheduled with UCF.”

Upon seeking clarification of the commissioner’s remarks, a spokesperson for The American told Black & Gold Banneret that Aresco had been “under the impression that a series between UCF and Arizona State had been announced,” but without any official announcement from the two schools, the conference cannot comment further.

UCF and the Sun Devils have met exactly once on the football field, back in 2002. Arizona State walloped UCF in Tempe, 46-13. UCF led the game 13-10 at halftime before ASU scored 29 third-quarter points.

We’ll be updating this story as anything new comes out.
