NEWPORT, R.I. — They don’t crown champions in July, but according to the media, the UCF Knights are still expected to reign when all is said and done this season.
The Knights garnered 19 of a possible 30 first-place votes to win the American Athletic Conference East division. They are also predicted to win their third consecutive conference title, besting Cincinnati in that question, 12 points to 8.
We're sure everyone is going to have their own opinion about the #AmericanFB Preseason Poll...but here's @TheRealGresh's initial thoughts from the #AmericanKickoff!

Memphis was a narrow favorite over Houston to win the West again. And SMU got a first-place vote, which is ... I mean, it’s a preseason media poll. Let’s try to not view this as gospel.
For comparison, The Knights were given 25 of 30 first-place votes to win their division last year and 19 of 30 points to win the conference.
The balloting for this poll closed July 5, so Darriel Mack Jr’s injury didn’t impact the outcome.
