The now-former Knight has teased a future in wrestling all year long.

It appears Parker Boudreaux has turned his full focus toward a career in the wrestling business.

The UCF Knights2021 football roster is now out, and you won’t find Boudreaux’s name on it. A source confirmed to Black and Gold Banneret on Monday that Boudreaux is no longer on the team.

According to FightfulSelect.com, Boudreaux was backstage during the Jan. 20 taping of WWE’s NXT TV show in Orlando and also spoke with the company that day at the WWE Performance Center.

This news is not surprising. Boudreaux has been compared to former WWE and UFC champion Brock Lesnar — Boudreaux has certainly welcomed that comparison in the past — and has been long-rumored to be preparing for a career in wrestling, as I wrote on Jan. 5.

During Sunday night’s WWE Royal Rumble show, Boudreaux tweeted out “Let’s get ready to rumble” while standing next to former WWE superstar Eva Marie.

Marie was with WWE from 2013-2015 and returned for a brief run in 2016. There have been reports since September that Marie is on the cusp of a WWE return, has been working out at the Performance Center and has even signed a contract. And shortly after Boudreaux’s tweet, Marie returned the favor.

Could Boudreaux’s debut in wrestling, either at a WWE or NXT show, be connected to the return of Eva Marie?

Boudreaux spent four years at UCF after transferring from Notre Dame prior to the 2017 season. He was the Knights’ starting right guard for all 13 games in 2019. However, he didn’t appear in a game last season, in part due to a concussion he suffered during fall camp.

Football appears to be behind Boudreaux for now. We can all start thinking about not if he will ever enter a WWE ring, but rather when.

Update to story as on Friday. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer and also Fightful is reporting that Boudreaux has agreed to a deal with WWE.
