Tim Harris Jr. is returning to the UCF Knights football team as its new co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.
Harris spent 2023 season as the running backs coach for the Miami Hurricanes. Before that, he worked in the same role and as a co-offensive coordinator at UCF in head coach Gus Malzahn’s first two years in the program in 2021 and 2022.
During those two seasons, Harris worked with running back Isaiah Bowser as he rushed for the eighth-most touchdowns in school history and the second-most single-season rushing touchdowns in program history. He also worked with R.J. Harvey as he recovered from his torn ACL in 2021 to post a 796-yard season back in 2022.
The Knights finished 28th and 9th in the nation in rushing offense in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
“I’m excited to welcome Tim back to our staff,” Malzahn said in a press release. “He’s one of the best coaches and teachers of the game that I’ve worked with. Tim was a huge part of building our foundation in our first two years here and he’s a rising star in our profession.”
Per the same press release, Hinshaw is now also a co-offensive coordinator and remains the team’s quarterbacks coach,
“Darin did a great job with the development of John Rhys Plumlee, which led to him ranking among the national leaders in passing yards per completion and passing efficiency,” Malzahn said.
The move makes Harris Malzahn’s fourth offensive coordinator in as many seasons with the Knights. With the hiring of Ted Roof as co-defensive coordinator last week, it is the second straight season Malzahn has made a change with both coordinators.
