Former UCF Knights forward Collin Smith entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday, per 247Sports’ Jason Beede.
Smith announced he was stepping away from basketball last Oct. 13 due to unspecified health concerns. He was celebrated during UCF’s Senior Knight this past spring.
“COVID-19 has taught us a lot of lessons, and while we are not sure what the future holds for me with basketball, life is about timing, and the time is now to fully take care of myself,” Smith said in his October Twitter post.

Prior to stepping away, Smith led the Knights in the 2019-2020 season in points (378), field goals made (133), free throws made (109), and blocks (19).
“And I trust and I believe, this isn’t going to be the last time you hear about Collin Smith,” Smith said in the October Twitter post.
While this move may indicate Smith’s return to basketball next season, it will not be for UCF.
