What to Know About Wichita State

UCF has never beaten Wichita State. Yup, the Shockers are 8-0 all-time against UCF, including the first meeting two weeks ago in Kansas, 84-79. But at 3-5 in the American, the Shockers are as vulnerable as they have ever been since joining the league in 2017.

Year 2 for Coach I. This is the second season for Isaac Brown, the former assistant who took over for Gregg Marshall after Marshall resigned in the wake of an investigation that uncovered he was abusive to his players. So far, so good for Isaac, who is 28-14 over this first two seasons and led WSU to the AAC regular season title and NCAA Tournament last season. They lost to Drake by 1 in the First Four last year.

That guy Council. 6-6 Freshman Ricky Council IV came off the bench to drop a season-high 31 (including 16/20 at the line) on the Knights in the first meeting. He’s made the AAC Honor Roll back-to-back weeks now after dropping a 20 and 7 on SMU the other night. Meanwhile, AAC Preseason Player of the Year Tyson Etienne is still averaging 14.7 points a game despite UCF holding him to 2/13 in the first game.
