It’s Championship Sunday for the UCF Knights Men’s Soccer team, and they have a tall task ahead of them at #2 Tulsa. Kicoff is set for 1 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on ESPNews.

UCF Coming In

The Knights are 9-7 on the season because of three straight losses to end the regular season. But in the semis, they flattened Memphis 6-0, thanks in no small part to sophomore goalkeeper Bernardo Brandao and two goals from Gino Vivi.

The Knights’ RPI is 60, which will not get them in as an at-large to the 48-team NCAA Men’s College Cup Tournament. So the task for the defending AAC champions is clear: Win and you’re in, lose and you’re done.

Tulsa Coming In

Meanwhile, Tulsa is 14-1-1, ranked second in the United Soccer Coaches’ poll, and beat Memphis 2-0 in the semis. Regardless of today’s result, they will be highly seeded in the NCAAs.

Earlier This Season

UCF is the only team to defeat Tulsa this year, doing so in dramatic fashion in Orlando on October 10th:

Tulsa returned the favor in the regular season finale in Oklahoma nine days ago, coming back from down 1-0 at the half to win it 2-1.

These two teams met in the Spring in The American Championship at UCF, with the Knights finally breaking through to win the tournament 1-0:

Now Tulsa looks to return the favor once again, seven months later.
