Here are our Three Knights Stars from the week before the biggest weekend this season for the UCF Knights in three different sports:

Yannik Oettel

Oettel made two saves for UCF in the Knights’ 2-0 conference-opening win over Temple, improving his record to 6-1-1 on the season in net with a 1.07 goals against average.

Oettel has now recorded 3 shutouts in his last 4 matches.

McKenna Melville

Melville posted double-digit kills in both sweeps during a 2-0 weekend for UCF, averaging 5.50 kills per set and hitting .333.

Melville had a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs against UConn on Friday, and 18 kills and 13 digs against Temple on Sunday.

Marrie Mattel

Mattel defeated two top-80 opponents on her way to the Final Four of the USTA Fall Collegiate Classic.

Mattel beat the tournament’s No. 5-8 seed Alana Smith and No. 9-16 seed Daevenia Achong on day one, then played two matches inside the main draw on day two. She beat Virginia’s Sofia Munera in her first matchup of the day 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the Final Four of the tournament.

In that match, she faced the NCAA singles champion Estela Perez-Somarriba of Miami, but fell 6-2, 6-1 to end her tournament. It was a great run by the sophomore out of France who was the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year.
