Three Stars: Soccer’s Soree, Cross Country’s Tomasetti Lead UCF’s Weekend

Meanwhile Cal Jennings is still doing Cal Jennings things.

Derek Warden

Our Three UCF Knights Stars this weekend include out first-ever cross-country star. Let’s begin:

Zandy Soree

Soree scored three goals in two matches last week, leading the explosive Knights offense to a 4-1 win over Arizona State and a 5-0 win over Stetson.

Soree was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week as well as the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll.

Jamie Tomassetti

The freshman Tomassetti has been the first Knight to cross the finish line in the Knights first two races of the season. Tomassetti helped the Knights post a top 10 finish at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville on Saturday, finishing 13th in the 5K race, where UCF finished 8th overall as a team.

Tomassetti was named American Athletic Conference Runner of the Week after finishing 4th at FAU Invitional on August 30th and helping the Knights finish 2nd overall as a team.

Cal Jennings

Jennings makes the list for third straight week as he scored what would be the game-winning goal in the Knights’ 2-0 win over VCU on Friday night:

It was Jennings’ fifth goal of the season which once again earned him a spot on the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll.

The highlight of week for Jennings and the team perhaps was on Saturday, when they were honored at the Stanford football game for winning the American Athletic Conference regular season championship last season.
