UCF Knights Softball extended its win streak to five games following a 7-2 win at FGCU. The Knights go into their bye weekend at 24-18.

Let's go Around the Bases and catch you up on where the team stands right now.

1st: Shannon Doherty Awarded Order of Pegasus

Prior to Wednesday’s game, UCF announced that Shannon Doherty — along with Track and Field’s Rayniah Jones — has been awarded the Order of Pegasus, which is UCF’s most prestigious student award given annually to those who display incredible academic achievement, university involvement, leadership, and community service. Doherty is the second player in UCF Softball history to be honored with the award, joining Shelly Frick in 2010.

Doherty celebrated with her 25th career home run in Wednesday night’s win at FGCU, becoming the fourth Knight to reach 25 career home runs, joining Stephanie Best, Jania Shinhoster, and Jada Cody.

Doherty is currently on a six-game hitting streak, going 8/14 with two homers.

2nd: UCF Pitching To UCF Softball Standards

UCF only gave up six runs during the five-game win streak, thanks Grace Jewell, who picked up three of the five wins.

Jewell was named AAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday. The bar is high with the program’s history and tradition of great pitching. Jewell and Sarah Willis pitched to that standard at Greenville, dominating the East Carolina Pirates offense and giving up just two runs in the three-game sweep.

3rd: Greenville Will Always Be a Special Place to UCF Softball

UCF’s last trip to ECU was a dominant one, outscoring the Pirates 21-2 in the three-game sweep. UCF ended up winning the last 12 games played at ECU including winning the 2022 AAC Championship on that field over USF, which goes down as my favorite UCF memory.

Here are my top three UCF Softball moments at ECU:

1. May 14, 2022: UCF Wins AAC Championship over USF 11-0

2. May 13, 2022: Savannah Adams’ pinch-hit 2-run HR vs. Houston

3. March 22, 2015: Shelby Turnier 2nd- Career No-Hitter

Home: UCF’s NCAA Tournament Resume Outlook

UCF is 24-18 on the season with an RPI of 30 as of Wednesday, with seven wins vs. the Top 50 RPI. But their work is far from done. UCF has 13 games left, all against teams outside the Top 50. So UCF's resume will get hurt with a couple of setbacks.

Extra Innings Softball and D1 Softball both project UCF to be a #3 seed in the Tallahassee regional with Florida State and Florida, who is in danger of not hosting for the first time since 2004.

Still, there are a lot of games to go and things are fluid. UCF just needs to keep winning.
