The UCF Knights Volleyball team has won two matches in two days on their home floor to reach the American Athletic Conference Championship Match against the #1 seed in the tournament, the Cincinnati Bearcats.
UCF comes in with a record of 23-7 (14-2 in The American) and an RPI of 28, so they are likely going to make the NCAA Tournament regardless of today’s result. However, a win over the Bearcats (25-5, 15-1 AAC, RPI #25) would give the Knights their second straight conference title, and their first consecutive conference crowns since they won three Atlantic Sun titles in a row from 2001-2003.
Of note: UCF’s only two losses in the conference regular season came to Cincinnati, most recently on Senior Day two weeks ago.
Of course, it’s hard to beat the same team three times in one season. UCF beat FGCU twice in the regular season last year, but lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to the Eagles in The Venue.
Today’s match will be televised on ESPNU. You can watch the match here, and follow along with our feed:
