Melville was the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year after lighting the league aflame with 504 kills (second in the conference behind Cincinnati’s Jordan Thompson) and 407 digs.
Melville and Anne-Marie Watson both tried out for the USA National Team earlier this year.
There are three USA Collegiate Teams competing this summer. Melville’s group will be to Japan, while two others with different rosters will play in Italy and Anaheim, California.
The Japan Tour team will be coached by Heather Olmstead of BYU, and UCF’s T.J. Read will serve as technical coordinator. The team will compete in six matches and multiple training sessions from May 19-30, including matches against Japan’s U20 and World University Games teams.
