It wasn’t easy - let me know if you’ve read that before - but the UCF Knights Women’s Basketball team secured its first-ever season sweep of the South Florida Bulls with a 66-63 win at CFE Arena.
The Knights are now 19-3, 8-1 in The American, and 9-0 at home.
Kay Kay Wright led all scorers with 22 points on 10/20 from the field, and Kayla Thigpen added another 15.

Three in the Key
Stat of the Game: Points off Turnovers - UCF 30, South Florida 10. Even though the Bulls turned it over just five more times than the Knights did (21-16), UCF converted nearly every turnover into points. This is something USF usually thrives on, but the tables got turned this time around.
Knight of the Knight: Kay Kay Wright. On top of the 22 points and 5 boards, she added four assists and three steals,
On the Big Stage: This game was televised on ESPN2, so the nation at least got a taste of what Kay Kay and the Knights can do. Next up will be SMU on the road.
Three Big Numbers
20+: One more win and UCF will have 20-win seasons in each of Coach Abe’s three years at the helm. The Knights have not put up three consecutive 20-win campaigns since Joe Sanchez was the head coach (1981-82, 1982-83, 1983-84, 1984-85), and for two of those seasons, UCF was in Division II.
14:
#UCF Women Hoops RPI is currently at 14! Pretty much a shoe in for NCAA Tournament at this rate .
