The Orlando pride added two former UCF Knights to their roster this week, drafting Konya Plummer and signing Carrie Lawrence for the 2020 season.

Pride Draft Konya Plummer in Second Round

UCF Knights defender and reigning American Defensive Player of the Year Konya Plummer was selected by the Orlando Pride with the first pick of the second round of Thursday’s NWSL Draft.

Plummer played two seasons for UCF after coming over from Southeastern University in Lakeland. After playing in just ten games in 2018, she saw plenty of action for Jamaica in international play, leading them to their first-ever World Cup appearance in 2019.

She then played in every match for the Knights in 2019 en route to first team all-conference honors and being named AAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Carrie Lawrence Signs Contract

Earlier in the week, the Pride added another former Knight defender, Carrie Lawrence, who signed a supplemental player contract with the club for 2020.

Lawrence spent time in camp with the Pride in 2018 as a training player before finishing her career with the Knights in 2019. She scored four goals in 49 games at UCF after transferring from South Carolina.

The Pride finished in last place in the NWSL in 2019. They begin their 2020 season in April.
